At this year’s Culinary Spectacular, J.Kings’s customers and guests had the opportunity to discover what was on the local horizon –

from the latest technologies to the latest food trends.

 

This year, the J.Kings Culinary team scoured the marketplace for the hottest menu items as well as the latest technologies in menu

and POS systems and brought them all to the Hofrstra Sports and Exhibition Complex. Those who attended came out with

some great items and ideas to build their business.

 
 
 
 
Building a Better Salad

Anyone who was looking for ideas to spruce up their salad offerings found great ideas at the Local Harvest salad station. Chefs prepared salads to order using ingredients on the Local Harvest Wall. Visitors found out how they could upsell
their salad offerings by using local produce and products.

Local Horizon Café

Instead of just telling customers about the items and service in a café,
attendees of this year’s Culinary Spectacular had the opportunity to see in
action ideas for running a successful café. At the Local Horizon Café,
guests had the opportunity to sample items specifically tailored for cafes
or establishments that serve breakfast and lunch.

Higher Learning

Independent University made a splash at the Culinary Spectacular this year,
talking with local independents about the new and more in-depth seminars
coming up this summer.

This year’s culinary spectacular’s focus was ideas and the J.Kings marketplace

At this year’s Culinary Spectacular, the vendors were challenged to choose
t he #1 must-see item at their booth. These # 1 items were designated with the
" #1 Club” logoed sign set next to them. If all visitors did was take a look
at these items, they saw all of the best and brightest at the show.

  Locally Raised Beef From Local Harvest

To keep in line with it's local focus, J.Kings has brought in a locally raised
beef line from Local Harvest. Local Harvest beef is all mid-Atlantic raised
angus breed that are humanely raised with no antibiotics or growth hormones.

Center of the Plate Ideas from WB Stockyard

J.Kings Culinary Team members were grilling up fresh cut steaks, chicken,
pork and fresh ground burgers from WB Stockyard. They showed guests
how they could get consistent quality cuts every single time when they let
WB’s butchers do the cutting for them. They even offered customers beef
and chicken entrée ideas to help spice up their center of the plate offerings.

Chef prepared meals from Restaurant Row Kitchens

Guests at the Culinary Showcase discovered how they could offer
their customers chef prepared wraps, salads and grab n’ go meals without the
labor by letting Restaurant Row Kitchens chefs do the work for them. Only fresh
ingredients go into each of Restaurant Row Kitchens chef prepared items,
so they’re always of the highest quality.

A Farmer’s Market worth of Produce

This year, the J.Kings Produce Procurement team brought a literal farmers’
market to the Culinary Spectacular. They wanted to illustrate to customers the
bountiful harvest J.Kings has to offer. The produce team also showed guests how
they could create their own Farmers’ Market at their establishment with their
o wn Farmers’ Market Turnkey kit that has everything from the tent, to the
checkered table cloths and bushel baskets. All you have to do is add produce.

Attendees at this year’s culinary Spectacular learned how they could upsell
their party packages and offer great grab n go items with Popcorn and candy
confections from Green Apple Foods. Guests were able to taste Green Apple’s
complete line of gourmet popcorn, cotton candy and confections as well as
see some of thegreat popcorn and cotton candy equipment available
through Green Apple.
